Judge-Elect Tifanee Baker was first elected to the bench in 2026. She will preside over County Criminal Court 1, a misdemeanor court with jurisdiction in Dallas County.
Baker has been licensed to practice law in the state of Texas for more than 15 years. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University. Baker originally had plans to become a sports journalist, but during college she became interested in criminal justice and was inspired to become an attorney.
Baker saw how much influence courts and judges can have on the trajectory of people’s lives, and she set the goal of one day becoming a judge herself. She earned her law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law, where she practiced with a third year bar card in the Criminal Justice Clinic.
After law school, Baker started her career as a prosecutor before volunteering at the Dallas County Public Defender’s Office. She went on to found the T. Baker Law Office, P.C., to practice criminal defense law. She is also an Associate Municipal Court Judge for the City of Dallas.
Baker has dedicated her legal career to helping individuals who are going through the criminal justice system. She believes everyone has the right to be represented by an attorney who cares, who ensures that their constitutional rights are upheld, and who will make sure they are treated with dignity and fairness by the system. She will serve on the bench with these same fundamental values of fairness and justice for every person, no matter who they are.
